Who We Are

Operating as a non-governmental organization formed on 24 October 2025, the Rwanda Korfball Organization (RKO) promotes korfball as a tool for social transformation, youth empowerment, and gender equality in Rwanda.

Global korfball values inspire RKO to build a sports culture rooted in teamwork, respect, and equal opportunity for all.

Our Mission

RKO promotes korfball nationwide, develops youth talent including vulnerable groups, advances gender equality through sport, and strengthens school and community sports systems.

Our Vision

RKO envisions making korfball a recognized and impactful sport in Rwanda, contributing to inclusive development and empowered communities.

What is Korfball?

A Unique Sport

Korfball serves as a unique mixed-gender sport where men and women play together on the same team. The world recognizes it as the only sport designed for true gender equality, a platform for teamwork, and a tool for inclusion.

Gender Equality in Action

Korfball practically demonstrates gender equality on the field:

  • Each team features exactly 4 men and 4 women playing as equals.
  • Every player marks an opponent of the same gender.
  • Success demands equal contribution from both men and women.
  • A team cannot win without balanced participation.

School Programs

We introduce korfball in schools, starting in Musanze District.

Capacity Building

We conduct basic training for players, coaches, and referees.

Equipment Access

We collaborate with school sports stakeholders and distribute basic equipment to partner schools.

Social Change

Through korfball, young people experience equality firsthand, and communities witness practical inclusion.
